“I am a retired teacher by profession with a liberal arts education and a lifelong love of the visual arts.  My earlier creative endeavors were in the area of drawing in pen and ink and pencil, writing and creating booklets and video presentations.

My introduction to painting in oils happened six years ago when I accompanied a friend to Lynn Gertenbach’s oil painting class. Lynn’s love for and skill in painting was inspiring and oil painting became my “voyage of discovery”.  I am currently a member of the Westlake Village Art Guild and take lessons and workshops from a variety of instructors to hone my skills. Most importantly, I continue to paint both in studio and plein air.

Having hiked or ridden horseback over many a trail, landscapes tend to dominate my subject matter though other subjects slip in now and again. The play of color and light on a scene interests me. Bright yellow mustard against a cool green oak tree or white poppies appearing to float by a darkened woodland provide irresistible subject matter. Living near the Santa Monica mountains, I look forward to an abundance of prospects to paint in the future.”
